The New Independent Party Blog

This Blog is maintained by Mike Barron, Executive Director and Founder of the New Independent Party. The views expressed here are not necessarily those of the Party, its Board of Governors or its Members.

To post a comment just click on the "comments" link just after the date of the original post.

Comments on the blog have to be moderated before they will appear.  The reason for this is the tendency for those with extreme opinions to attempt to force out other voices by intimidation. I apologize for this format and I will attempt to review comments as quickly as possible. All respectful comments, regardless of political orientation, will be published.

If you are reluctant to include your email address when posting a comment, just put xxx@yyy in the blank. Your email address will not be published if you choose to include it.

If you would like to start an entirely new thread on the blog, just post it as a comment to the most recent blog post.  Alternatively, you can post a comment on the post set up for starting new discussions. I will establish it as a new thread. Don't forget to tell me what you would like to title the thread.

Hello Fellow Independent Voters!

Welcome to the New Independent Party Blog!

This blog is operated by Mike Barron, the Founder and Executive Director of the New Independent Party. The views expressed here do not necessarily reflect the views of the Party or its Board of Governors.

If you want to place a comment, please do. Comments have to be reviewed before they become public, but I will try to do so quickly and I will only edit out those that are offensive or unduly inflammatory. I am hoping for an honest exchange of ideas here.

If you have a comment that you don't want to post publicly, please use the "Contact Us" page.

This web site is an experiment with an idea for a new political organization. The focus is on independent voters who are generally fiscally conservation and socially liberal or libertarian.

Please, read over the home and concept pages and review the party platform. You can express your opinion about the platform at the bottom of each section using a mini-poll. You can also send a comment to us through the comment page or here on the blog.

Suggestion on automatic posting:

A different blog's policy was to review each person's comments until they were deemed trustworthy and then their comments were posted automatically.

Suggested topic:

The laboratories of democracy and federalism. Process can be more important than specific policy.

I will do that as soon as I figure out how to do it. It might require using different blog software.

On the subject of process, check out a web site called \"Americans Elect\". It starts off with no initial political position and only seeks to facilitate the nomination of candidates for President and Vice President using the internet. Their only requirement is that the members of the ticket be from different parties.
